Named after one of Victoria’s most charming neighbourhoods, the graphic stripes and contrasting colours of the James Bay Cowl come together to create a timeless design with urban appeal. With its seamless construction and airy fabric, this cowl is perfect for strolling through beautiful James Bay—or any neighbourhood.

THE DETAILS

FINISHED SIZE

One size. Approx. 30 cm (12”) wide, 33 cm (13”) deep, all measurements taken flat.

YARN

Approx. 212 m (232 yds) of yarn that knits to gauge in both MC and CC [424 m (464 yds) total]. We recommend a lightweight yarn with a halo.

Shown in MODE at Rowan Alpaca Haze (212 m / 232 yds / 25 g)
MC: #18 'Khaki'
CC: #12 'Silver'

GAUGE

22 sts = 10 cm (4”), in stockinette, after blocking.
Gauge is not critical but will impact finished size and meterage required.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

  • 3.75 mm (US 5) 40 cm (16”) circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 1 circular needle in similar size for grafting
  • 1 stitch marker
  • 1 crochet hook (optional, for provisional cast on)
  • Smooth DK-weight scrap yarn for provisional cast on
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Wool Wash
